A Lifetime Dedicated to Traditional Chinese Medicine

Professor Wu’s professional work has been shaped by a deep commitment to preserving and advancing Traditional Chinese Medicine. Before moving overseas, he served as Deputy Director of the Acupuncture Research Department at the Heilongjiang TCM Institute and Dean of the Qigong Research Department.

Since 1989, Professor Wu has travelled to nearly twenty countries to lecture, teach, and promote Traditional Chinese Medicine, including Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, the former Soviet Union, the United States, Australia, and other regions. Through international seminars, treatment demonstrations, and professional training programs, he has trained more than one thousand students and helped introduce TCM-based therapeutic knowledge to a global audience.

His research papers in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and qigong have been published in various academic and professional publications. His work has also been featured in newspapers, magazines, television programs, and radio interviews across multiple countries, helping to raise public awareness of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Wu’s Head Massage Therapy.

The Development of  Wu’s Head Massage Therapy

Wu’s Head Massage Therapy was developed from Professor Wu’s extensive clinical experience, classical TCM theory, and in-depth research into meridians, acupoints, scalp acupuncture, ear acupuncture, qigong, and traditional manual techniques.

The therapy focuses on the head, face, neck, and shoulders, combining systematic massage movements with Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. It was designed as a structured and professional method rooted in meridian theory, acupoint stimulation, and holistic wellness care.

Professor Wu first introduced Wu’s Head Massage internationally in 1993 at the 3rd World Conference on Acupuncture of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies in Japan. Through years of clinical practice, teaching, refinement, and international exchange, the therapy gradually developed into a complete professional system.

International Education and Professional Recognition

In 1998, Professor Wu immigrated to Canada as a special talent and continued his mission of promoting Traditional Chinese Medicine internationally. In April 2000, he became President of the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and began developing English-language TCM training programs in Canada.

In September 2000, the Wu’s Head Massage International Association was founded in Toronto, Canada, with additional branches later established in Europe, including Austria and Hungary. The association became a platform for education, research, professional training, and international exchange.

Wu’s Head Massage was later introduced into professional education settings and continuing education programs. In 2002, it was incorporated into the Acupuncture program at the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences. In 2003, the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario recognized Wu’s Head Massage as a continuing education course for Registered Massage Therapists under its quality assurance program.

Professor Wu has also presented Wu’s Head Massage at international academic conferences, including the 6th World Conference on Acupuncture in Australia and the World Acupuncture and Moxibustion Academic Congress in Beijing.

The Academic Legacy of Professor Ben Binjiang Wu

Overseas Traditional Chinese Medicine Educator and Founder of Wu’s Head Massage Therapy

Professor Ben Binjiang Wu is a respected Traditional Chinese Medicine educator, clinician, researcher, and the founder of Wu’s Head Massage Therapy. Born in Harbin, China, Professor Wu began his medical journey at a young age, gaining early hands-on experience as a barefoot doctor in rural communities. This early exposure to clinical practice laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, qigong, meridian theory, and natural health care.

After the reopening of universities in China in 1978, Professor Wu was admitted to Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He later pursued advanced postgraduate study at the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, one of China’s leading institutions for TCM research and education. As one of the earliest postgraduate students specializing in Medical Qigong, he became among the first generation of scholars to receive a Master’s Degree in this field in China.

Throughout his academic and clinical career, Professor Wu studied under many renowned masters in acupuncture, qigong, Chinese herbal medicine, and traditional therapeutic techniques. His education combined formal medical training, clinical observation, classical Chinese medical theory, and extensive study with respected specialists. This broad foundation allowed him to develop a unique and systematic approach that later became known internationally as Wu’s Head Massage Therapy.
